Uncertain Species – Araceae
We treated the following four species as ‘uncertain species’, despite their documented reports from Nepal (Hara et al., 1978; Press et al., 2000; Rajbhandari & Rai, 2017; Shrestha et al., 2022, etc.), for one or more of the following reasons: (1) no specimens available in national or international Herbaria to confirm previous reports, (2) specimens in poor conditions, damaged, or degraded, making identification challenging, (3) specimens lack essential parts for identification, especially reproductive structures like flowers or fruits, and (4) confusion with similar species that are difficult to differentiate based on a single specimen. It is suggested to trace or collect additional specimens of these uncertain species and conduct further studies to confirm their occurrence in Nepal.
