Note: P. Pradhan identified H. reniformis as H. diphylla from the specimens deposited at KATH. Based on these specimens Banerji & Pradhan (1984) described it as H. diphylla.
As mentioned by Hooker (H. reniformis) the species has peloric characters. In the specimens deposited at KATH (labeled as H. diphylla) the lip is simple, oblong, without lateral lobes and without spur. In the description (Banerji & Pradhan, 1984) there is distinct lateral lobes and spur. From the same population collected from Dhading district, simple and three partite lip were observed. Moreover, Pandey (2021, unpublished thesis) synonymized Habenaria wallichii with H. reniformis after close comparison of morphological features and the type specimen.
