Pseudobulbs distant or contiguous, sometimes superposed, often ovoid, oblong to cylindric, covered with sheaths, apex with 1 or 2 leaves. Leaves petiolate, often oblong, lanceolate to elliptic, margin entire. Inflorescence either terminal from apex or lateral from rhizome near base of pseudobulbs; arching, suberect, erect or drooping with or without persistent sheaths. Sterile bracts sometimes imbricate, convolute. Rachis straight, curved or recurved, 1- to many-flowered; floral bracts persistent, caducous at or after anthesis. Flowers usually white or yellowish green. Sepals similar or subsimilar. Petals usually linear, narrower than sepals. Lip entire or 3-lobed, often saccate at base, unlobed lip occasionally sigmoidally bent from above base; lateral lobes erect and sometimes embracing column, margin of mid-lobe entire or fimbriate; callus at disk with longitudinal lamellae or rarely callus absent. Column often long, winged on both sides from base to apex or only at apex, column foot inconspicuous.
